Slide Transfer
Whether it's your grandparent's wedding, a vacaction on a remote island, or projects from art school, slides hold a wealth of precious memories from decades past.
Like all of our services, our slide capture has been designed from the ground up for maximum quality. We want you to be able to use the digitized versions for everything from sending via email to extra large prints, and everything in between.
Our Process
Hand cleaning of each slide
We hand clean every slide with a soft brush. This does wonders for dust and dirt removal, enabling the cleanest initial image capture. Additionally, all slides are handled in a HEPA-filtered room with dedicated anti-static nitrile gloves that prevent finger prints and additional dust buildup.
Capture using a Kodak Carousel projector
Often described as "tanks" in the industry, Kodak Carousel projectors are known for their high build quality and robustness. Additionally, our projector has been highly modified, including retrofitting with a custom LED bulb with a high color rendering index (CRI) of >95. This enables us to capture all slides with a faithful color reproduction of the original film stock.
High resolution photography using Sony A7R
We use an extremely high resolution Sony A7R camera, which enables us to capture each slide at a whopping 60 megapixels, or 9504 x 6336 lines of resolution. For a 12" x 18" print, this is the equivalent of 528 DPI. By comparison, 300 DPI is considered "high quality" for most prints.
